www.mutualfundinformation.ca Mutual Funds in Canada have been around since the early 60’s when they first became popular as a collective investment scheme. The Mutual Fund Industry dwindled in its infancy not because pooled investment were a bad idea but more likely they were not marketed very well and the general investing public was still skeptical about this new way of investing in stocks and the Canadian capital market. In the early 80’s mutual funds and investment funds became more and more popular and had been given its second chance where they took the second opportunity to grow in the hearts and minds of the Canadian investing public. Stock investing was thought to be for the elite, rich and wealthy individuals and families only. Mutual Funds were now for the average and mainstream Canadian investor and saver in fact the AUM grew from 25 billion in 1980 up 2800% to close to 700 billion in 2007.
